The weather Gods smiled on us again. Sunday, August 17th was nothing but good old California sunshine. A few shooters we haven't seen for a while were there along with some who haven't shot with us before. There was a little extra added to a couple of the stages and they were fun. By all reports everyone had a good time. |

The world record stage that we shot last month is now on Lead D'Spencer's web site at www.spencerhoglund.com/worldrecords.html Check it out it's fun to watch. I had the pleasure of chaperoning the Outdoor Channel's film crew and Tupelo Flash for the "Cowboys" program at Panorama's range a couple of weeks ago. The segments will be aired during the first quarter of 2009. Watch for them, they’re educational and entertaining. There's a lot of good shoots coming up between now and November. I plan on being at all of them, especially the 16th annual Great Northfield Raid. November 14th, 15th and 16th. The top five at Panorama were, starting with 5th, Garryowen, Irish Eyes, Dog Soldier, Tex Fiddler, Swifty Swede. Hope to see ya all next time. |

THANKS TO THE PEOPLE WHO DONATED DOOR PRIZES
Dick Conti, Philadelphia Fred, Rumshot,
Bob Taylor and Saw-Yer Wood

They haven’t added Single Action Shooting to the Olympics yet and if they ever do, you can bet the TV networks won’t give it air time, but you can see some of the shooting events on your computer, on line.

Southern California’s own Olympic gold medal double trap great Kim Rhode (El Monte) did us proud again. They eliminated double trap, so she took up skeet, a very different game.
The match was held in the pouring rain. Everyone but the women were under umbrellas or in plastic slickers. The gals just toughed it out. They had towels under their vests with which they kept wiping their guns. At times the downpour was so heavy you couldn’t see the birds. There was a three-way tie and in the tie-breaking shootout, Kim won the silver medal. I’m sure, if it had been sunny, she would have taken the gold, but she’s a local girl and doesn’t get much chance to practice in the rain in Southern California.
Congratulations to Kim and the other medallists of the American shooting team. |
