Desperado Declares

Was it a hot day in June? Was it a little over 100 degrees? Well kind of. Panorama's mountain is a lot cooler than the floor of the San Fernando Valley where it had hit 112 degrees earlier in the week. Sunday was only about 101 and a whole bunch of our good friends and hardy shooters showed up to shoot. We formed two posses and gave it hell.

When summer time rolls around, I always remind everyone during the shooters meeting to stay hydrated and to watch out for one another. We have water on all of the ranges. Some of us were at the range all day Saturday working with the kids that attended our youth shoot and probably became a little de-hydrated. Gun Hawk was one of them and of all people.  He’s a retired fireman who thrives on heat but he got heat prostration. Wiki and Top Notch got him some water to drink and put a wet kerchief on his neck, I ran some water from a hose over his head and in a few minutes he was OK.  He even finished the match. We really need to stay hydrated, especially during hot weather. Thanks to Doc Hollywood and M.T. Nester for helping us set up the stages on Saturday. Again, thanks to the shooters who help tear down after the match. It was good to see Dog Soldier again after a long absence from Panorama. He showed up, shot the match clean, won his category, won the match and left the range, how cool is that. Congratulations to the new world champion senior, our very own Tex Fiddler!! The top five match winners were: 5th, Cold Iron Charly, 4th, Top Notch, 3rd, Ignatius Guns, 2nd, Boothill Tom, 1st, Dog Soldier. The 16th annual Great Northfield Raid will be held on November 14th, 15th and 16th 2008. It will be another fun match.

Five out of nine Supreme Court Justices can read the English language!  As a result, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed!  It’s a happy and important day for all of us.
