Desperado Declares

We don't know what ticked off Mariah so bad, but she came up with a vengefully in the wee hours of Sunday morning didn’t quit until lots of Southern California got destroyed.  It was a little breezy when we set up the stages on Saturday. Nobody thought anything of it because we've always shot during the windy season at Panorama.  It's never been a big deal.  Things were different this time.

A few shooters showed up early said hello.  Judging the wind, they had a cup of coffee and went back home. The cook shack crew knew they wouldn't be able to keep the burners lit under the grilles, so they moved operations to the "Green House" where everyone had breakfast.

A couple of the guys asked me if we were going to have the match.  I told them, “if you guys want to shoot in this wind, we'll shoot.”  But as the winds got stronger more folks decided conditions were not conducive to shooting.  We’d already lost some of the corrugated tin sections from the shade covers (I picked up four or five of them from various sections of the road.  There were also downed tree branches. The target stands were blowing over and when we picked them up, sooner or later they were blown over again. There was a lot of dust in the air; we've never seen the wind so bad on our range. Reluctantly, we deemed it necessary to cancel the match in the interest of safety.  It was the first time we ever had to cancel a match.

Let’s all hope and pray that our friends and families are not directly affected by the many fires that are burning throughout Southern California.

The Great Northfield Raid will be held on November 16th,17th, and 18th, 2007. It promises to be the best ever. See our web site at http://psc-northfield.orgfor an entry form.
