We had a small intimate match on Sunday. The Cowboys held their shoot on the same day. It's that fourth Sunday, third full weekend thing, but we had a good match and a lot of fun even though it was on the chilly side. In the Senior category Cold Iron Charly got Tex Fiddler by 2.32 seconds over the eight stages. Wild Bird was out of town and Tex had to fend for himself. Swifty Swede edged out Mr. Wood by 0.64 sec. in Traditional and in the overall placement Chuck Roby squeaked by Loose Latigo by 0.34 sec. As usual the competition was close. We had three shooters that DQ'ed stages, it must have been chillier than we thought. Lead D'Spencer is up and around and came by to visit us. It was good to see him looking so well. Hang in there Lead, you'll be back shooting before you know it. I want to tell you this story and, believe me, it's not meant to embarrass anyone. Bright and early Monday morning I received an email from Top Notch. He said that when he got home and was putting is guns away he discovered that he had not unloaded his pistols after his last stage of the day and needed a safety penalty imposed on his final score. I checked the SASS shooters handbook and this issue is not addressed so I called our TG., Solomon Star, and asked him about it. He told me that he has read the book several times and doe's not recall that situation being addressed either but he would post the question on the TG wire. We agreed it would be a no-call. The scores will stand as they are. Top Notch won his category and the match, if there was a 10 sec. penalty it would knocked him out of 1st place overall. We thank Top Notch for his honesty, he is a true sportsman and competitor and a shinning example of "The Cowboy Way" Hope to see ya all next time. |
