NEXT MATCH:  July 16th

Desperado Declares

Wow, did we get off to a bad start at our June match.  Texas Yellow Rose, Mild Bill Hiccup and Nancy had a rough time in the Northfield bank that morning.  We figured that we would have a light attendance due to EOT. Our posse sign-up gal set up two posses and every thing looked good but then we started getting a lot of last minute sign-ups.  That put us over the edge and we decided to go with three posses which required a lot of last minute changes.

It would have been no problem, except that our UPS system decided to die right at that time. Our crack computer crew pulled the computer cabinet away from the wall, dove into that unbelievable mess of wires and got the computer and printer working again. Meanwhile our posse sign-up gal was hand writing the posse sheets.  Then I goofed.   I announced the names on the third posse, but I should have called out the names on the other two posses.  There was some confusion and some shooters went to the wrong ranges.  I apologize for that. After everything got straightened out we finally started shooting and having fun.

There's a young man that shoots in the Buckaroo category by the name of Lil' Cobalt.  Guess what?  He shot the match clean!   He just might be a world champion some day.

Thanks to Coffee's young son, Jack Potter aka “Mikey” for picking up brass all day – he really made things easier for us old folks!  Coffee’s daughter, K.D., spotted a baby rattler somewhere between the Ladies room and the red barn.  Fortunately, Top Notch somehow caught the snake in his brass picker net and released the little rattler into the creek.  We hope the little guy will be happy down there.

Thanks to High Country and Sparks for helping out in the posse-leading department; they always do a great job and are top competitors and all around good guys.

Bodie-601 had to drop out of the shooting after the first five stages or so due to a hurting leg.  I figure it must have been bad, because a real Cowboy like Bodie wouldn't drop out because of a little pain, but he hung in there and lead his posse until the end of the match.

Also a big thanks to our cook shack gang for another great job.

Hope to see ya all next time.
