Desperado Declares

I've said many times that Cowboy Action Shooters are a hardy bunch and last Sunday proved it again. It rained until about 7:30 and it was cold. Our range soaked the water up quite well and there wasn't much mud. D. Trader and I moved our portable fire pit under cover and Trader got the fire going, but our cook shack boss, Lane, complained about ashes getting on the breakfast food. I tried to tell Lane that a few ashes never hurt anything, but I lost the discussion (never argue with the cook.) We moved the fire pit back out in the rain.

Trader managed to keep the fire going and that helped us stay warm (Trader must have been Boy Scout). We had sign ups on all four posses but due to the bad weather we had a low turn out of shooters so we consolidated into two posse's and had a heck of a good time. We want to thank High Country for helping out in the posse leading department. Tex Fiddler outdid himself. Not only did he win the Senior category, he won the whole darn shooten match, and no, he didn't design the stages this time, Wild Bird did. Ya don't supposed he peeked do ya.

It's always fun shooting with all you guy's and gal's.

Hope to see ya next time.

Cowboy action Shooting is the main activity of our sponsoring organization, the Panorama Sportsman’s Club, but it’s not all they do.  Just about every shooting sport is practiced by these guys and they have real names when they’re not playing cowboy.

In April PSC will be putting on a major shooting fest in honor of their late member, Bob Campbell.  Bob was a shooter and desert rat, who became an serious authority on the habitat of the Big Horn Sheep and other critters.  He wouldn’t have liked a sentimental memorial, but PSC will celebrate his life by playing the shooting games he loved.

Bob Campbell Memorial Match

Sunday April 30th

Starting about 9 AM

A day of shooting fun on various venues in the “Northfield” range.  There will be scattergun fun shoots (Like Annie Oakley, Big Chip, Follow the Leader, etc.)  A handgun match and a .22 rifle competition are in the planning stages.  Beautiful silver commemorative medals have been cast for the top winners.  And Northfield’s Lane Frank will be running the cook shack for one of his world-class lunches.

We hope you’ll join us.
