Desperado Declares

We held our 5th annual Guzzler shoot last Sunday, a benefit shoot for the Society for the Conservation of Bighorn Sheep. We all thank you for shooting with us and for buying all of those raffle tickets, and of course a special thank you from all of those thirsty sheep. We also thank Two Timing Tina for being out there bright and early to help ya all buy them tickets. 4th prize winner was Rusty Gun, 3rd prize winner was Cranky Jack, 2nd prize winner was Rumshot and the 1st prize was won by Loose Latigo. Congratulations!!!

Our eight stages were quick, easy and fun. We will probably keep them on the quick and easy side throughout the hot weather and they will always be fun.

Our favorite vendor, D. Trader wasn’t with us for the first time in a long time.  He went into the UCLA Medical Center on Friday to have a malignant melanoma removed from his shoulder.  Our prayers and best wishes to him.  Hope to see him and ya all next time

Thanks to the good folks who donated door prizes

Philadelphia Fred, Shoot Magazine,
Pecos Clyde & Irish Eyes, Rumshot, Wild Bird,
Tony & Lois Rodriguez, and Dick Conti.

we’ve lost a good friend

Jack Redalje died last month.  He was already in the U.S. Navy when Pearl Harbor was bombed and he served throughout the war.  That would be enough reason for us to be grateful to him, but there was a lot more.

Jack couldn’t stand it when things didn’t work right.  You could always find him on the range pulling maintenance, painting or planting flowers.  He never waited to be asked.

Chances are Jack regaled you with one of his long yarns.  Jack loved to talk.  Too much, some would say, but we never really minded.

You probably saw Jack around because, until he became ill, he always turned out to help us put on our cowboy matches.

He built Clyde for our very first Great Northfield Raid, many years ago.  Clyde might not win any prizes for beauty, but he always makes us chuckle because there’s a good measure of Jack’s whimsy in the old steed.

If heaven isn’t already in perfect working order, Jack is busy right now, happily fixing things up.
